finally, i made it to the Balloon Fiesta!! yay!....i didn't know where to begin with photos. i took 300 of them. goodness. if ever you come to visit New Mexico, come while this fiesta is going on. it's soooo spectalur!!! after living here for 20yrs, i still love it. it never gets old. in taking my photos, i try and paint a picture. i hope also as i post these photos (it's going to take many entries to post most of them), i hope that i can convey what's it really like down on the field.... now a note on the first photo. this is Dawn Patrol, which means several balloons light their balloons up inside to begin the day and light the black sky in the morn. i didn't have my unipod or tripod with me for this, so the photo is blurry from the shutter staying open long enough to get the shot. but i wanted to share the first thing i saw as i got on the field this morn....
although you wake at O dark 30 in the morn to beat the crowds, it's worth every moment of it...i got on the field by 6:30am. the balloons didn't start going up until about 7:15am, and lifting off about 15mins laterz. there's plenty to do while waiting. plenty of vendors. the field is about 2 football fields in length with vendors completely down the side....
this is an international event. people come from all over the world, literally all over the world, to participate in this event. some of the balloonist will drape their country's flag on the balloon so you may identify themselves. lots from Europe=Germany, France, England, but Brazil was also mentioned in the announcements today...
as i said, i like to paint a picture with my photos. the photos i post will have been shot at many different angles for many different reasons, i.e. color, texture, symmetry or anything else i could think of...i hope you enjoy the photos. i'm putting a slideshow together of all of them. as soon as i pay for the account to send them out, i'll send the entire slideshow (of all 300 photos) to you if you'd like. (and you'll get to see that i'm like any photographer, not every photo is perfect:-)) anyways, if you'd like when you make a comment, let me know if you'd like to see the slideshow and leave your email address. i'll send them out asap. remember to have a cup of coffee or tea, for it's going to take quite a few moments to view all the photos. i've already reviewed it and it best captures the event....
